DIFFA'S DINING BY DESIGN
DIFFA’S DINING BY DESIGN - Designers and corporations from
the Columbus area came together to raise money at DIFFA’s 10th Anniversary of
Dining By Design presented by Elle Décor and GE Monogram. For the first time,
Columbus was one of eight cities to host DIFFA’s (Design Industries Foundation
Fighting AIDS) annual fundraiser to benefit AIDS research and awareness. Dining
By Design allows designers to construct dining installations to be on display
for the first night of the event and then to accommodate dinner guests on the
second evening. On the first evening, over 2,500 guests the mesmerizing displays
and installations. Installations were completed by American Express,
Anthropology, Smith and Hawkin, SAKS Fifth Avenue, Henri Bendel, GE Monogram,
Limited Brands, Victoria’s Secret, Fitch Design, Abercrombie and Fitch, Crane
Plastics, NBC, Rosemount Estates, Pizzuti Companies, Landfare, Nationwide
Insurance, The Columbus Dispatch, Collier West, Waterworks, Beulah Park and
EventCo Productions, just to name a few. EventCo’s installation
“Safari Sophistication” was created by HGTV’s Rob Whittlef from the show
Decorating Cents. Columbus’ Dining By Design was anything but ordinary, with
just one installation worth over $5 million and having its own security guards
and surveillance monitoring cameras, guests were in awe of the creativity and
sophistication of all the designs.
The mind-boggling task of the necessary creation of this event space required
total re-construction, rehab and upgrades to a former 48,000 square foot auto
dealership and mechanics bay. The venue was built in 1946. The location
conversion for the new Dining By Design event encompassed over 4 months, and was
met with rave reviews, applauding the magical transformation of the venue!”
